Re-Pollarding Lime Trees

ARB BLOG

pollarding trees

These large Lime trees have been pollarded previously and the time had come to repollard them.

Unlike indiscriminate topping, pollarding is carried out in regular cycles, depending on the species of tree this can be anywhere between 2-5 years. The resulting ‘pollard heads’ can often give the tree a character all of its own, and whilst it might initially appear quite brutal, it is an ideal method of dealing with trees in built up enviroments such as our towns and cities.
